Our arrival was EXTREMELY late or should I say early. (truck issues) Woody was actually up and he helped us locate a spot out front to dry camp for the night. The breeze off the ocean made it comfortable. (we did not bring our generator) We eventually moved and stayed in overflow. The overflow lots are very roomy - view subdued but there. Full hook-up in overflow. Grassy - and well kept but don't put a carpet on that grass. The people of Pelican Roost were very nice and the facility was well kept. The ice cream social night was great. Our children enjoyed it as did we. Ice is available and there is a washer/dryer location. We did not use but we also did not see a line to use it. During the day you can watch ships coming and going or fish off the rock jetty. For those that like to have fun in the sun - the beach is truly just a short pleasant walk away. I actually stumbled upon the boardwalk but was pleasantly pleased that I did. The beach is beautiful. One thing - be careful with awnings and tent like structures. The wind is non-stop here. When a storm comes up you can imagine wind coming off the river and the ocean from different directions the damage that can do. The campground staff is really good about running around to warn folks to put their awnings down prior to a storm. So keep that in mind if you plan to be gone for the day - you might want to bring that awning in. We are going back Labor Day Weekend. (with a new truck this time)
