Used this FamCamp as a one nighter on our trip from Phoenix, AZ to Cripple Creek, CO. As a quick stop it was pretty nice. Getting on the base proved to be tricky because we used the wrong gate to get on. Not much to report, but I do recommend this FamCamp and plan on using it again in the future.
Very nice campground right on a very large lake! We have a son that lives up in Murfreesboro, so we were just 50 minutes away, which was awesome! Definitely staying here again!
We stayed here two years ago as a one-night stop over and liked it so much that we decided to take 2 days on this trip to explore the area. The sites are large and not on top of each other. We enjoyed our time here greatly and will definitely stay here again!
Great site, nice facilities, incredible value, but OH-MY-GOD the noise from Patrol Rd was horrendous! Our site was the closest to the road, and I'll take a beating before I stay at that site again! We've stayed here a total of 3 times, and this was the easily the worst of our experiences. Get a site near the office!!!!!
Back in the 80's my wife and I were both stationed at Barksdale, so we thought that it might be fun to revisit a portion of our youth. The FamCamp was pretty easy to find, and our site was large and pretty much level. There is a dog park, which was fantastic for us since we had two doggies with us, and it was about 150 feet from our site. The camp was blessedly quiet, which we...
Only used this FamCamp as a transient stop on our way to Barksdale AFB. The way to the FamCamp is very confusing and you will need to keep in contact with the FamCamp folks. We were placed in the new area, which is a considerable distance from Lake Walker. You can see the lake, but that's about it. The site we were given was a nice concrete pad, but it was pretty well unlevel. I...
Let me set this up. Older pickup truck, 27' Heartland Travel Trailer, 2 Seniors Citizens, 2 dogs. Pros: - Right on the beach! - Great rate ($40) a night - Nice, helpful staff - Nice trails to hike around on - Shaded, big lots! -- Cons: - Cannot take dogs on the beach. Okaloosa county ordinance. Real kill-joy for us - had we known we probably would have gone...
Nice FamCamp in a decent location for us (we were there to see the Mariners in Peoria). Would have liked to have had more than a week to spend there, but this is a very popular destination, so I felt happy to have gotten a week.
Hill was a little out of the way for us on our trip from Colorado to California, but was a nice stop none-the9less. The pull-through sites had no shade to speak of, and it early August it was feverishly hot! 100 plus degrees is nothing to shrug at! Still, though, the camp was nicely located within a short drive from the BX, Commissary, and shoppette. All in all, this was a good value stop!
Used the FamCamp as a waypoint on our trip from Colorado to northern California. After having spent a night at a dump in Winnemucca, the FamCamp was a site for sore eyes. Mac, the campground host is a great guy who was very helpful! My dogs loved the dog park! The only downside was that it was 500 degrees outside and there was no shade! I would recommend this FamCamp to all!!
