I have been coming to this campground for the past five years and every year it gets a little worse. It seems that all the money is being spent on something other than upkeep. The entire time we were there one of the two cloth dryers was Out of Order and on the day we left I posted a note on the Facebook page and got a response from the Manager that he did not realize this was a problem...
Very very hard to find this campground. The gate we were directed to was not open and we drove around for another 30 minutes looking for another gate. Host were very accommodating. This place is at the very end of the base and you could not have put it any farther away from the exchange and commissary. Played golf at one of the two base courses and found it to be expensive ($42) for 18 holes and a cart....
While taking my Great Grand Son and dogs for a walk around the campground 2 big dogs got loose and tried to attack my dogs. The Great Grand Son who is 2 1/2 years old was totally terrifies by the experience. I report this to the base police and to the campground management. The people who own the dogs left them in the trailer with their children alone. These are long term campers that I know have been at...
The new sites are open and some of the homesteaders have left so it was easy getting a reservation. The new sites were very nice, flat and all services in the correct spot (Old site have the sewer up front and the power and water in the rear). Still think this campground needs a Campground Host to clean it up. The people they have working try, but, our really consumed with all the other rec gear they have to...
Stayed here for one month. This Famcamp is a really nice location, but, it is getting no ground maintenance. There was one day that a crew of two men came out and racked up four sites (one of them the Host) left and never came back and we were their two more weeks. The camp host never once got off her golf cart to assist camper. They also need to ensure that the site people are assigned can be...
They are finally getting this famcamp straightened out. All the people that are currently there have to be gone by 1 May 2017. They are also adding 10 new sites which should open up sometime in June. They still have work to do on the bath house and wifi, but, at least they are making an effort. Some of the people have been their since 2013???
The way the camp ground is laid out unless you spend more than 1 month here they separate the spots that made me feel like we weren't really welcomed. Had to park what I consider backwards so I didn't open the door into the street. No lights and when the sunsets at 1630 it makes it kind of hard to get around. All the short term people are put in the area that is only opened from Sep - May...
Noise level at night is higher than one would think a military park off the beaten path would be. Golf course is outside the fence area and since it is open to the public we found it to be unfriendly to military people. The bathhouse is nice and clean, but, the temperature a couple of nights we were here fell below freezing and the house has no heat (made for quick showers).
People working did not know where the sites were located when I asked for direction and than someone was already in the location given to me so we had to find another spot which wasn't hard because very few people were in the campgrounds. NO HEAT IN THE SHOWERS temp was down in the 30's the night we stayed.
When we were making plans for a trip I tried to make reservations and when I asked about the Golden Age pass I was told that it is honored, but, they only give $1.00 off. We decided to stay at a Army Corp of Engineer campground not to far away that gives 50%. So much for supporting the senior citizens that gave years of service to the USA.
The only issue we had was the lack of Internet access that is advertised and cell services is not good either. Golf course offers a monthly membership so you can play Fort Stewart and Hunter for one good price. Very nice and accommodating staff and host. We'll be back.
