Amazing views, very nice place, peaceful, and relaxing. Five miles from Franfort and sleeping bear dunes. The lake is fifty yards of the porch so you can listen to the waves.
First the good news clean nice cabins fully equipped, friendly people, great galley, super deals at the club, beautiful area and wonderful place. Now the bad news this base is slated to be closed in September of next year how sad seems to be the nicest military base I have ever visited. If you haven't made it there yet you need to go.
Stayed in the cottages these sorry I know they are building new but these should have been torn down years ago buildings are falling apart. We stayed for a week four cameras and nobody had the heart to photograph our sad green house. There are tons of programs on the base at very reasonable prices and the staff was friendly. The cottage next door had a dumpster in the front yard pretty ripe between dumping's. The place seamed like it...
Stayed for a week in June most all of the units were available. Fishing was great cost 5 dollars inside the park. Soon as you enter the park take the first right and park in the picnic area saw a huge grizzly every day in the field across the river. If you fish walk up the trail by the river until another river flows into it. Caught 19 trout and several whitefish in a matter of an hour. Now back...
