When we arrived it was a bit confusing. The check in for OD Rec has moved. It used to be at the entrance to the campground. Now it is about 1/2 a mile away and doesn't face the road that it has a street address. Nonetheless we found it and settled in. It must have been too straight forward and working to well. Our site with this time was #16 which is poorly graded and I had to go out...
We stayed here for two nights. Our eldest son was coming in to Dulles and we needed to get him on Saturday night. We arrived on Friday afternoon, hit the commissary and PX. On Saturday morning we went up to Baltimore and went through the B&O museum which was really well done. We came back refreshed and picked him up no issues! Our stay was great. Wish that Ft Meade had an indoor pool though. It was a really well...
Stayed two nights on our way to a Fort Union Military Academy 55th reunion. Everything worked great for us. Had a splendid bike ride on the paths of the golf course which had almost no one on it. Had a friend who lives in Stafford, VA that we visited and were able to help out with in a pinch. Nice facility put showing its age a bit.
We stayed here a number of years ago when we came out from PA to WA for our youngest son's marriage. Sad to say we never even noticed the lake that trip with all the business. This trip was a lay over on our way to Okinawa to avoid jet lag, it is a very beautiful spot. We were in cabin B. Ft Lewis had lots for us to do, shop at the Thrift store is one of my wife's...
We trucked our camper and stayed in the loop. Our sons and their families rented a beach house. It was a short bike ride back and forth to each. Had lots of great beach days and a great fireworks show on base. The little distance between our camper and the sites pavilion kept us from opening our awning and the site was a bit cramped, but that isn't what we were there for.
A really nice spot in a great area. Access to the beach is tough as you have to take a short ride, but you can do that in your tow vehicle or a bike. The north end where we stayed this time was unsheltered by trees, but still is nice. There was no problem with the full hook ups. I made an error and lost track of time and checked out about an hour after the time and they wacked...
Had a really nice campsite. Our purpose of the trip was to visit Old Rhineback Aerodrome and see the air show and museum, the campsite we had was on the opposite side of the lake and there were 3 sites in our grouping, but it was still nice and private. There were no problems with the water or electric and the dump station was easy to access. We were able to go down and see a concert at Trophy Point,...
It was difficult to find the right entrance to the installation, let alone right building on the installation. It seems to be the Navy way to keep folks confused. Once we got the site, we went down and found it to be a concreted pad with a 30 amp hook up. I knew in advance there was no water or sewage connections. The pad was und 3" of water and the grass in the surrounding area was saturated! The...
A well maintained Army Guard training installation. Ohio has opened it to the public and while some of the facilities are discounted to the military they are open to the public. We stayed one night on our way out to visit family in Wisconsin and 3 nights over a long weekend on our return trip to the Poconos. We had a full hook up. The utilities are locked at each site and the staff would give us our site number...
I like it. It's a well kept small installation. Has a small convenience store size BX, sells just some essentials. We stayed on our way out to Wisconsin from the Poconos 1 night and on our way back (12 July 2021). Some of the sites have no sewer, but for one night it can't be beat! There are no picnic tables, but our camper has a table that tucks in over the storage cabinet if we needed it. Nice...
We stayed over 4th of July. For the cost everything was going well. You are out in the boondoggle, but that can be a good thing. When we came back on Friday night our site was flooded by 8 inches of water. I could have taken or should have taken pictures, but didn't. By morning the water was down to 2 inches, we were leaving anyway, but other than the flood which wasn't MWR's fault, it was nice. New...
We spent the week over Memorial Day here. The grill at our site was a rusted piece of junk. The sewer connection had long ago lost its threads and couldn't be a right seal. The activities were ambiguous and had no instructions on how to get involved. The TV reception changed moment by moment. It is a great relaxed area. Overall th e PAX River museum and the Calvert Marine Museum were redeeming and we'll worth visiting. The pool...
Had a great weekend overall. We were set up in a spot that was near the playground and walking trail, rode bikes, went to Rehobeth and Bethany Beaches. Had more success with the HD TV than before.
Had a great experience here. The weather was a little on the cool side, but it was January (40s, 50s & 60's) nothing froze. We did some local sight seeing and saw the battleship NC. Wilmington's River Walk and RR Museum and other points north, Ft Fisher and Southport, NC when we went sightseeing south. TV & cable had to be set up by the technician, but the wi-fi was good, even was able to use internet radio with...
We stopped for an overnight on our way south this year. We found a spot large enough to not unhook the trailer from the truck and just dropped the stabilizers and made utility hook ups. The sites are OK and the facility is clean, but it still could use a little dressing up. No issues or problems though. Nice size BX and Commissary, Mini-BX had competitively priced gas, it was over all good place to stop on our way...
Needs a good spring clean up. Office staff was friendly and helpful. We were staying one night and it wasn't crowded, so we asked to move to a bigger site so we didn't have to unhitch. No problem, no worries. Nice place. Water, sewer, electric, cable, wifi, have it all -
