We called ahead on our day of arrival and they gave us our site number. We arrived via the 24/7 gate and proceeded directly to our site. The park offers night hikes, telescope night-time star viewing and many other activities. However, you really need to ask about times and locations as they do not do much to inform their guests of these events. We did the night-hike with the park manger and we very much enjoyed the info he...
We had an excellent one week stay at Camp Rilea with 50A FHU for $25@night. The RV area as basically a large back-in parking lot with a shower/restroom building midway between the sites. When we arrived we found out that we'd been moved from our reserved site, #6 to site #3. We didn't give it much thought until we set up and tried to acquire a Dish Satellite signal. We quickly realized that the tall pine trees immediately south...
We enjoyed our stay at Pacific Beach on 30A, water, and no sewer @$25@night. The facilities are showing their age. And the grass was about 10" tall. We did not realize that a Razor Clam dig was scheduled for the minus tide during our scheduled stay, so the park filled up rather quickly as it is apparently a popular pastime. At daylight every morning the park sprung to life as all the diggers departed to collect their daily 15...
They have raised the price on their 50A FHU sites from $16 to $28 a night. Which is $2 a night less than their neighbor, about 1 mile away at JBLM. However, JBLM has much more space between sites, they are paved sites instead of dirt and they include cable TV. The sites at the Camp Murray campground are not maintained. The entire arrival is completely self-service, the hosts did not assist us when we arrived. We watched numerous...
Our week at the USCG Petaluma FamCamp was fantastic. Great location, quiet and scenic. Lots of geese, turkeys and a couple of Peacocks next door provide a bit of interesting noise, but other than that it is a very peaceful location. If it had a sewer connection it would be even better. We were in the one 50A site and the utilities worked flawlessly. The MWR staff (Jenny & Donna) was helpful, courteous, and efficient. They went out of...
Our site (#35) was just across the road from the surf. The views and ocean surf sounds were phenomenal. The regular entrance was closed, consequentially the entry into the park was a bit of a mess, however is was workable with our 65' motorhome and TOAD. We seen seals, dolphins and a daily groups of surfers. We very much enjoyed our stay, wish had stayed longer. There is a good bit of renovation and construction on-going while we were...
Stopped at Desert Breeze on our way south from Lake Havasu City en-route to Yuma and Algadonnes, Mexico. Teresa, the manager, was very welcoming and promptly checked us in on a Friday. Site was gravel with a small concrete pad. Friendly residents in the park. We participated in a pot-luck breakfast and everyone was welcoming and we had a very nice selection of breakfast items. Small commissary and exchange with gas station (no diesel). We enjoyed our stay and...
We stopped for a couple nights at El Centro on our way west from Yuma to San Onofre. Checked in with the camp host on a Sunday. Very easy, nice site, no problems. We visited the commissary and exchange while there and found a nice selection for smaller facilities. We enjoyed our visit and would return.
We called a few days before our arrival and made reservations with Todd at the Outdoor Rec Office which is located within walking distance, on the mountain of the campsites, just beyond the Golf Driving Range. When we arrived I called Todd and asked which site was ours, he said just pick one, there should be three available, however, there was only two, number 2 & 7. We selected 7. The sites are narrow with steel poles, the electrical...
Arrived via the Roy gate early afternoon. We made reservations well in advance. Check-in was quick and informative. Utilized their USPS mail delivery service at the Base Post Office building, it worked well you can drop off prepaid UPS and Fedex parcels there as well. Nice Exchange and Commissary, car wash, bowling alley, all within easy walking distance of the FamCamp. Excellent Art & Crafts Shop across the street. Very much enjoyed our stay and visit to the Salt...
We booked our site with "Baker" via the telephone in October 2017 for a May 2018 - 2 week stay. We arrived in San Antonio from the south east via I-10 and with Baker's help over the telephone with the co-pilot, we eventually maneuvered our way onto post via the Walters Street gate. Once on post, there is absolutely no signage for the campground. Much of this is due to major road construction both on and off post. Consequentially...
We arrived at Goodfellow Rec Camp on a Wednesday afternoon for a two-night stay. We had made telephonic reservations 45 days out. However, the Office is closed on Wednesday, so when we arrived the Camp Host directed us to a couple 50A FHU back-in sites from which we could select. We parked and connected. Sites were concrete, however they had not been swept or edged in some time. Trees had not been trimmed, grass mowing, weed-eating, edging and cleanliness...
We stayed at Pelican Roost for 19 Days in April 2018 - $20 @ night. Arrival - The signage to get to the park is non existent, so make sure you ask the gate guards at the main gate for directions. There are two different streets that lead to the park entrance and either can accommodate larger rigs. Just FYI, there are two RV Parks (Pelican Roost and Osprey Cove) on the base so make sure they do not...
We arrived at Camp Ripley and proceeded through the MAIN GATE to the Eduction Center/ Billeting Office to register. The building is on the left, it is a fairly elaborate two-story building on the right. It has a large u-shaped drive that you can pull through if you are in a large RV. The office is in the main door immediately on your left when you enter the door. Registered with a lady that had a British accent, she...
My wife, retired Army, called and spoke with Mike to make our reservations, it was no problem. He handled our request professionally and quickly. We arrived at Raptor Ranch Fam Camp on Tyndall AFB, Sunday afternoon and left 8 days later on Monday. It was our first visit to the area. the campground is easily accessed directly off of Florida RT98. You do not need to go through any security gate, you just drive into the park entrance, the...
We stayed at the Battleship Row section. Making reservations was a bit of a hassle as the online system was uncooperative and the campground wouldn't answer the phone or return my phone calls. Eventually, after a few days of persistence, we were able to speak with the campground staff when transferred from the Navy Getaway 800 number. Once we arrived, registration at the entrance office was painless. We were met by the Camp Hosts when we arrived at the...
