We stopped here for the first time as a staging stop on our way to the FMCA Rally in Perry. Even though, many of the previous comments were on the negative side, I don't let others influence whether we stop or not. It is our own judgment whether we STAY long or not. We love this place, though we come here to visit our son who is stationed at Ft. Gordon, it offers a relaxing setting, great fishing, a short drive 25 mi, into Augusta. We also like the other sight seeing things like, the Laurel and Hardy Museum, Atlanta is 120 mi etc. etc... The lake is very, very, full right now at peak, maybe a little over, but we have seen it just one year ago at 17 feet below...

We came here to see the sights of Boston and other historic towns. The office staff was very well versed in all things touring, getting around and good places to eat! We recommend; 2 days to visit Concord, 1 day for Lexington, 1 day for Gloucester, 2-3 days to see Boston using the Old Town Trolley ($28@, tickets avail at office), walk the Battle Road (5 miles) from the visitors center. We are plum worn out!

First time at this facility. With only one week notice the staff was able to fit two of us traveling together. We stayed at the main campground near the marina and really like the proximity to the water for fishing in the St. Andrew Bay right from the property. Ditto and Ditto again to all the positive comments. A new manager, Kathy, took over last June and she is a great leader with a fabulous management style. The following are some things we did while here; walked the beach to find shark teeth, fished and caught 10, watched amazing sunrises, toured St Augustine, toured World Golf Hall of Fame, enjoyed the mild temperatures, cool breezes, took fabulous walks on the Atlantic ocean beach !

We arrived on Christmas Eve, 2011 for a 30 day stay. Having stayed here before we knew how to get here and hoped our favorite space was empty and waiting for us. We enjoyed our stay at this FAMCAMP, though we stayed only four nights and all of them were at the overflow area. We found the overflow to have plenty of 30 amp power. When we called the phone number for our reservation a knowledgeable helpful lady answered all our questions and gave us directions to the FAMCAMP from the main gate. Following the directions given here we had no problem finding the FAMCAMP on the first try. Upon arrival we found the FAMCAMP to be well maintained and clean. If you can imagine a beach access property owned by the military and good it might be, it is that terrific! The office is staffed by knowledgeable friendly people who will answer all your questions. We were assigned one of the few spots up by the gymnasium, MWR shop. We enjoyed the short stay we had here. We toured the outbanks, NPS Wright Brothers Memorial, Bodie Lighthouse and Hatteras Lighthouse. Also we found the downtown area of Elizabeth City to be charming and on the "comeback" with redevelopment. We paid $7 per night for that space, a terrific deal.

This park is one of the top five military FAMCAMPs for us. We stayed in a space that backed up to the lake providing terrific views of the wildlife and sunsets beyond belief. The location may be a bit of a downfall for those who "need" to be close to malls and stores, about 12 miles to the nearest big shopping center. We don't look for that sort of thing as a "need".
