25 Aug 2021 Covid Update

Important update for those with reservations (or plans) to Dry Camp at NASKW Campgrounds (Sigsbee and Trumbo Point), Key West FL, this winter (Oct 2021 - Apr 2022). Due to the significant uptick in Covid19 cases in Florida, management has reduced the availability of dry camping spaces for this winter season dramatically (only 25% of dry camping sites will be available for use). This necessitated cancelling a number of existing dry camping reservations that had already been made...

To register for an RV campsite at Peregrine Pines Famcamp you must provide registration and proof of insurance for both your tow vehicle (truck, car, motorhome, etc.) **AND** trailer (travel-trailer, 5th wheel, etc). We checked-in at Peregrine with an in-bed truck camper today (18Jul2021) and they requested the registration and proof of insurance for our truck and in-bed truck camper (a fully self-contained camper with shower/bed/toilet/frig/dinette that sits in the bed of our truck). When we camped at...

Oct 2019

Been camping at the NASKW (Sigsbee) RV Campgrounds for a number of years. We typically stay 2-4 weeks. Our latest stay was in Oct 2019. A few updates. There were a bit more full hook-ups available this year vs. the last two years. Still a number of homesteaders. One welcome change: they've hired contractors to cut the grass. Years past, each camper was responsible for cutting the grass at their respective RV site....

We stayed here in early Jun 2019 for two days. Most of the sites are small, irregular in shape, not particularly level, with plenty of trees providing shade (and clearance issues for larger rigs). The Famcamp is surrounded by the Monterey Pines Golf Course and sits just off the NE end of the Monterey Regional Airport runway. There is some occasional aircraft noise--however, it's minimal compared to what you'd experience at a typical military base. Facilities are older/dated, but...

We've visited the NASKW Sigsbee Campground with our RV a number of times during the last 8 years. We're currently 2 weeks into a 4 week stay in the "Circle" area (full hook-up). With the Fantasy Fest (18-28 Oct) a few days away, Sigsbee's full hook-up sites are nearing capacity. Mandatory "rotations" from full hook-ups to dry, and vice versa, will likely start in the next week or so. With the recent implementation of the 180 day maximum stay...

This is our 2nd stay at the Desert Eagle RV park at Nellis AFB. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on both occasions. A very well run famcamp. No RV park is perfect, but I think most would agree the "legacy" section of the Desert Eagle RV Park presents one of the better military camping experiences in the country. The legacy section (100+ sites) contains huge, full-hook-up RV spaces that are easily 3000-4000 sq ft. in size. Each site contains...

June 23-25, 2017

Stayed at the San Onofre RV park, Camp Pendleton, with our 5th wheel toy hauler the weekend of 23 - 25 Jun 2017. Excellent location with older facilities that are showing a bit of wear, tear, and age. Check-in personnel were helpful and polite. Although the park was almost at capacity, nearly all of the RV sites on the beach (45-72) were closed (temporarily??) due to excessively high tides and beach erosion. At high tide ocean water actually washed...

August 2016

During the summer, off-season period (Apr-Sep), there have typically been plenty of full-hookups available at the Sigsbee NASKW Campground. However, this summer (at least o/a 11 Aug 2016), Sigsbee (temporarily??) had no full-hook-up sites available. Why? Off the record, I'd been told a growing number of local, active-duty, permanent party personnel are starting to use the full-hookup sites at the Sigsbee NASKW Campground as a permanent housing option. With rent in the local area extremely high, it's easy to...

Dec 25, 2015, Update

Merry Christmas!  A Dec 25th update for those that may have plans to camp at Sigsbee/Trumbo in the next week or so.  We checked in at Trumbo Point on Mon, Dec 21st.  At that time there were approx. 30-35 spaces (all dry) available at Trumbo/Sigsbee.  FHU's at Sigsbee were full with a 2-3 week waiting period to rotate from dry camping to FHU's. IMO there is the possibility Trumbo/Sigsbee may be at capacity off and on after New Year's....

We've stayed at the Sigsbee RV Park (NASKW Campground) with our toy hauler (and PWC) a number of times through the years. During the summer, off-season there are always full-hookups available. During our stays we've always found the staff awesome--always helpful and professional. Although we rarely used them, in our opinion some of the bathroom and shower facilities could stand some updating and more thorough cleaning from time to time. And, yes, the full-hook-up sites are mostly...
