Very pleasant. Campground is on the lake. Has clean and well thought out bath house, lots of hooks and a small bench within the shower stall. We drove to Franklin and toured the Carnton Plantation before heading into town to visit friends, took over an hour to get to Franklin but a pleasant drive. We arrived after mwr office closed but contacted them and they sent a Docusign form. We did not have any ID on...
Nice and quiet campground. We were able to get into an overflow spot with full hook ups, cement pad and picnic table, and close to the showers. Showers up front are old, not too clean but adequate. Did not look into the shower building in the back but the building looks newer. Easy access to Charleston which is why we chose to stay there. Nice to return to after a day in Charleston and surrounding area....
Convenient stop for us on the way to IN. Quiet, secluded camp with larger sites. After hours host checked us in…we missed the office by a few minutes dt the wavering time lines…she was very efficient. Site was back-in gravel with F/H. Very quiet. Flock of goldfinch held us spellbound. Wonderful! Convenient and clean bathhouse. Laundry is still $1 for washer or dryer…we did have an issue with a wash machine but worked...
It will do! We travel this way a lot and stopped heading south for the first time. Very convenient to our camp in Maine. A little close when heading south but will be perfect when heading north as it will give us plenty of time to open up camp before nightfall. Directions are a bit misleading as the exit when heading west off I-90 is #49 not #5. Otherwise good. Cannot stress enough how...
Super CG. Fort BELVOIR is beautiful! We were on a back in on the Potomac! We were there for a meeting and did not have time to explore the base. But there seem to be lots to do on the base….rent kayaks, etc, ride bikes, hike, not to mention the close proximity to DC. The CG is unusual in that there is no host. Frankly I think they should have one. We were emailed...
First time at Postal Point. Liked it. Not FHU but convenient dump station though the wide grey collar on the dump port is awkward and did not work well for our situation. But we got it done! We woke to a short storm with rain and the field does not drain well leaving lots of standing water at sites and in the road. Also the bathroom shower had lots of mold/mildew. I can handle...
Hasn’t changed in years. Needs some tender loving care. Grass long, bathrooms dirty, directions to register unclear. Grab form on board on the left as you enter the back of the CG, pay with cash or check, then deposit in slots in the laundry. Nice laundry facility though we did not use. Super convenient to gas station and mini mart. Needs trees! Four lanes in back, middle two pull through and fairly level,...
Still one of my favorite fam camps. We have a site in the 30 amp section to the left…shady and quiet. Nice showers and laundry. Friendly staff in the office. Propane available. Biggest suggestion from me to Mwr is get a good wifi system going! Crazy that it is so poor! Adequate commissary and small exchange. Lovely views everywhere! Great places to walk the dog! We love the Asian food restaurant, Pho Wok,...
New rv park. Not quite finished. Laundry is not open yet. There are 3 loops for rvs. Very little shade on any of them. The best possibility for shade is the inner loops of Ivy and Steadfast. Loyal loop has no shade. Most sites seem very level, though we encountered one in Steadfast Loop that had some rain washout. Sites are very generously proportioned with easy access. They are gravel except for...
Still no bath house/laundry. Supposed to have the funds but nothing has happened thus far. Wifi was also in the building that housed those facilities so no wifi. We did do laundry at the navy lodge…not convenient but heh! We got it done! Small commissary, adequately stocked. The whole base looked warm and unkept since our last visit in 2019. Maybe a tough hot summer? The camp host, Yvonne, is so nice and...
Third time at this CG as we have family in the area. This time we arrived the Wednesday before the Balloon Fiesta and since reservations are not allowed, took our chances. We selected a nice dry camping site that backs up to the road near the back of the office and added our name to a waiting list for full hook up. Spent two days dry camping and then moved over to the full hook up in...
The approach to the campground is out of the way and rough. Cement pads are excellent and the sites are large. Appears as though damage to a dam associated with the lake has lowered the lake level significantly...no boat access, docks high and dry, etc. Trash was piled up around cans near the bath house despite the dumpster being 100 yards away. The bath house was disgustingly dirty...campers had left trash everywhere. Discouraging to see campers taking so little...
Super hosts in Larry and Debbie! Nice, clean park with nice laundry, nice bathrooms except the showers need a private dressing area, convenient to base amenities...superior fitness center across the road, splash park for kids, clean grassy dog park, level parking sites although a little hard to understand where to park...rigs need to park close to utility side. We were unable to hook up sewer dt the rig behind us being dead center. It would also be nice if...
(Editor Notes - the directions have been updated). Okay, let’s update this site! Directions are horrible! We got off I-25 at exit 10D, NOT exit 10-B Via Missile Road. gate two is closed...we were there about 2pm on a Thursday. Is it permanently closed? DO NOT take Randall all the way to the Famcamp dirt road...there is a low underpass and the road is uneven. Instead, enter through the main gate straight to the first Major intersection which is Old...
Tried to stay here last year but it was closed due to severe flooding. Also due to the flood, many of the amenities are new. We were able to secure a nice rv site in the shade for two nights. Full hook up. Met some lovely people camping nearby. Approaching from the east via non interstate roads was very pretty with many ranches and little towns. Texas has great roads as a rule. Campground is still a work in...
The no reservation policy has kept us away from this Famcamp in the past but we wanted to get out of Dodge for a few days over the holidays and took a chance. We were rewarded with our (only) three hour trip with one of two available sites. We loved our location (61?) as it had grass behind it and was not surrounded by pavement. The directions to get to the base with an rv are not clear. You...
